transport cushion, fire hose, mason’s lacing cord
The idea: to create a sculptural pavilion from the air-filled transport cushions that served to secure freight during the construction of the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. Taking a triangular structure, a stable overall structure was developed that absorbs the compression and tensile forces: Specially adapted spanning elements made of masonry lacing cord and sewed loops from a fire-fighting hosepipe function as the connecting elements.
